Mediocre Experience with Dr. Krause: Lacking Quality Evaluation and Clear Communication
We were treated here in 2022-2023 by Dr. Krause and I would finally like to give a review. I give the two stars for:
– the receptionists, who were always professional, friendly and approachable
– Appointment management, as you usually get to the appointment on time
Otherwise our experience was rather mediocre. Dr. Krause actually made a professional impression on us and he certainly has a lot of specialist knowledge. He also responded to some of our requests. What bothered us, however, was that the advice (which wasn’t bad in itself) was sometimes not really on an equal level. There were a few things that made me suspicious in retrospect, e.g. It has been claimed that the pregnancy rate has skyrocketed since using the TimeLapse incubator. This actually does not correspond to the results of studies, which unfortunately found no difference in the success rate. Another example when asked whether a new drug could be tried in the next IVF, said Dr. Krause, the medications are all the same. Wording like that made me feel like I was being taken for a fool. Because if you look into it, you know that there are differences in the composition. Opinions may differ as to whether the effect differs, but then you would have to say it in a differentiated way and not so succinctly that everything is the same.
The second thing we were missing was that the embryos were not evaluated based on their quality. Because you would like to understand what could be causing it not to work, perhaps the quality? When asked about the Blastos that were transferred, it was always said that they were “good”. Since we also received pictures and videos of cell division, we had doubts about the quality, since you can see on the Internet what it should actually look like if the quality is good. When asked, it was said that they decided against determining more precise quality ratings because it can also work with less good embryos and the quality says nothing about the chance. I also found this irritating, as it might work even with non-optimal blastos, but the chance probably increases with the quality.
Afterwards, in another clinic, for example, we had: a great Blasto quality (with a rating of 4AB and you can clearly see the difference to the other attempts here in the picture) and it worked there on the first transfer.
(At this point I can also recommend the book “In the Beginning is the Egg” by Rebecca Fett, which may have contributed to this.)
In summary, we would not recommend the clinic and next time we would go directly to the other clinic, where we felt we were treated more at eye level and with more sensitivity and effort.
We went to a follow-up appointment with Dr. Aesir. We felt very well advised and treated. He was technically competent and spoke to us about the next steps with a lot of knowledge about his field.
Dr. Asen took a lot of time for the treatment and answered all questions in detail, making it one of the best appointments we had at this fertility clinic.
The sisters were again very courteous, sensitive and helpful.
After not feeling well looked after at another fertility clinic, we are now even more grateful to be here. The entire clinic staff is extremely friendly and competent.
Our attending physician, Dr. med. Maurus Asen, impressively combines professional expertise with exceptional empathy and incredible warmth. His in-depth medical knowledge and ability to explain complex issues in an understandable way give us as patients a high level of security. In addition, he always takes the time necessary to respond to our concerns and questions. This combination of professionalism and human attention makes him an exceptional doctor. Thanks to his sensitive and competent care, we were able to gain confidence and can now start the treatment with more ease. We couldn’t ask for another doctor for our fertility journey!
“Confusion Over Specialist Referrals in Gynecology”
A colleague is friendly and recommends an initial consultation. The other colleague writes an email in a very professional manner with exclamation marks and points out that you should see another specialist, even though there are doctors who advertise exactly this specialty on the GYNÄKOLOGIUM homepage. Then please change your email address or name when using
Hormone inquiries from your endocrinologist are WRONG and you should email the gynecologist
Write and get an answer from the child wish email 🙂
I have been on this team for about 7 months and I am so grateful to this team, Ms. Raspe. Now I’m pregnant after 4 years of pain
“After 3 Years, My Disappointing Experience with Dr. Krause and the Clinic Led Me to Find Success Elsewhere”
It took me a while (3 years) to write this review, but now I have all the necessary evidence to put such a low rating to this clinic in general and Dr. Krause in particular. We went to this clinic first of all because of the English language (at that time my German was hardly B1) and also because the other two clinics recommended to us had time for the appointment only in 6-7 months at the earliest 😢 and we did not want to wait any longer to understand what’s wrong and get necessary treatment to fulfill our desire to have kids. The feeling I had throughout the treatment at this was that in best case scenario it was just a business for them, just a way of making money on people desperate to become parents, in worst case scenario – an assembly line with “one size fits all” approach 😡 and no consideration for the final result or the feelings of patients. There was no understanding, support or empathy towards women and couples, the appointments lasted 15 Minutes at best, Dr. Krause was always “sick and tired” of us all and was unwilling to answer the questions or give explanations about the treatment, the reasons behind the decisions and choices he made “for us”. He rushed us into certain costly treatments stating they would work or us in our situation, which was not true and only gave us false hopes. I had a bad feeling, but was already too far to step back, so we had an IVF attempt with Dr. Krause and immediately after the negative result he recommended to rest one cycle and try again without any additional tests or consideration of another treatment. I already had doubts and concerns, so we went to another clinic, where the doctor immediately discovered problems with hormones based on blood test results and advised me to see an endocrinologist (which I did and it turned out I had a hyperthyroidism needing an operation before proceeding further with my desire to have children). We never came back to this clinic, but we are now happy parents of our lovely daughter. In general Germany was probably once ahead (in 80s-90s), but is definitely lagging behind now while other countries are leading the way and use the latest available technologies to allow more couples to become parents. To name but a few problems in Germany – there are no genetic tests of embryos to find out if they are at all suitable for transfer, which increases risks of giving birth to unhealthy children; no possibility of egg donation, which, combined with possibility of sperm donation, sounds very discriminating for women. Without a doubt Israel is the best option, but rather expensive, so I would recommend Ukraine where protocols are not outdated, doctors are professional and prices are affordable (even for surrogacy if all other options are exhausted). We went to BioTexCom and are more than happy with our choice as they have very professional doctors and coordinators speaking multiple languages who support the couples throughout the process, organize accommodations, transportation, appointments with doctors, etc. But feel free to choose another clinic, BTC is just an example. We needed only one attempt to bring our lovely daughter to this world after several failed attempts in different clinics in Germany.
“Disappointed with my expensive ICSI experience and low success rate.”
Unfortunately I can’t recommend it to anyone. The doctors are all very nice and professional, but they try to do everything they can to get as much money as possible from the customer. However, you have to do a few rounds of ICSI beforehand. Ms. Haase told me that all the results were good, but unfortunately two attempts in a row failed. Don’t forget that each attempt costs several hundred euros and offers a 10% chance.
“Never Again: My Disappointing Experience with Dr. Horstkamp’s Family Planning”
Never again!
Short summary: Freshly discontinued the pill, pumped it full, according to Dr.’s plan. Horstkamp, with hormones in injections, could no longer be done and Dr. Horstkamp told me that I could complete my family planning, but that wouldn’t work for me. This information without further explanation in a maximum of a minute on the phone
Second opinion: already in the second natural cycle, follicles gained and the wish of not possible is closer than ever.
Two years later second pregnancy, although according to Dr. Horstkamp could never become a mother.
The blood values did not match my blood values from the second practice either.
My first review was deleted and an invoice was subsequently sent to me. The bill was ok, even though they said the first examination would be through the health insurance company. Services were provided and then I pay privately.
Not recommended!!!
“Everything Went Great for Me!”
Everything fine!
