What to watch out for at CREATE Fertility?

  • Poor Communication and Support
A significant number of reviews point to ongoing issues with communication, where patients often feel ignored or overwhelmed by the clinic's processes. Many have reported difficulty in obtaining timely responses from their patient coordinators and healthcare providers, which adds unnecessary stress to an already challenging experience.
  • Administrative Nightmares
Administrative mishaps, such as appointment cancellations without notification and chaotic billing processes, have left patients feeling frustrated. Several individuals noted long delays in processing refunds for unsuccessful treatments, citing a lack of responsibility from the clinic's administrative teams.
  • Inconsistent Patient Care
Patients have lamented the inconsistency in care, with numerous reviewers mentioning feeling like a statistic rather than an individual. Lack of continuity in seeing the same doctor or staff consistently has compounded these frustrations, making it challenging to build trust.
  • Financial Concerns and Hidden Costs
Despite some patients reporting fair pricing, others have expressed dissatisfaction with perceived transparency regarding costs. Issues concerning unexpected charges and fees add to financial stress for patients already facing emotional turmoil.
  • Quality of Care Depending on Individual Experiences
The quality of care appears to vary significantly among patients, leading to polarized experiences. Some individuals have voiced that while they may have had success, they feel the overall treatment could have been better managed, signaling potential issues in standardizing care protocols within the clinic.

I strongly urge anyone considering CREATE Fertility to think twice before proceeding. Please read my review carefully and reconsider your decision.

Despite having a sperm count of 90 million per ml, we were convinced by CREATE to undergo the ICSI procedure, which came at an additional cost of £1,350 that roughly equivalent to my entire year’s worth of coffee expenses. We hadn’t initially planned on this, but we trusted their advice and went ahead, expecting better results due to the supposed benefits of ICSI. Yet, after all that, they ended up freezing just one embryo.

Here’s how the process unfolded: They retrieved 12 eggs, 11 of which were suitable for ICSI. Out of these, 9 successfully fertilized. On day 3, we were reassured that most of the embryos were of excellent quality. They froze one at that stage, even though my wife repeatedly requested that two embryos be frozen on day 3. She hoped that by day 5, at least two more embryos would reach the blastocyst stage, giving us a minimum of four to secure for future transfers. Her primary concern was avoiding the painful egg collection process again. Despite her multiple requests, we were abruptly told that none of the remaining embryos made it to day 5.

This was shocking. What happened to the other eight fertilized embryos after the costly ICSI procedure, which totaled £11,000. It’s hard not to feel like something went wrong. I strongly suspect they never even attempted to grow any of the embryos to blastocyst stage, despite their initial reassurances. It almost feels like they had already made up their minds to freeze just one embryo, regardless of how many eggs were retrieved, as a way to justify the steep costs of embryo freezing and transfer fees.

Another concern was how CREATE Fertility mishandled my previous IVF cycle information. Rather than using it to enhance to improve our chances, they appeared to reduce them. For instance, I had two frozen embryos from a prior cycle, yet CREATE only chose to freeze one. They then shifted the blame onto the previous cycle for the subpar outcome. To make matters worse, they leaned on the age factor as an excuse, despite the fact that only a couple of months had passed since my last cycle.

This left me feeling powerless, as if all my time, money, medication, and emotional investment had been wasted. When I expressed my concerns, rather than offering tangible solutions or accountability, they recommended their counseling sessions. While that might be helpful for some, to me it felt like they were deflecting responsibility rather than addressing the real issues.

CREATE misled me, both financially and emotionally in this quite challenging and emotionally draining process particularly the fertility treatment thats deeply personal and expensive. Sharing my review can help others make more informed decisions and potentially avoid similar experiences.

An amazing clinic – we suffered a miscarriage under their care (no fault of the clinic) and it was handled so sensitively. Admin staff fantastic and medical team all great. Thanks to amazing care and bespoke medication during our second transfer, we are now holding our lovely rainbow baby!

I found my experience with CREATE to be overall, very positive. The clinic is very professional. Compared to going the NHS route, having IVF at a private clinic like CREATE provides you with the speed of having treatment much faster with no months of waiting for an appointment, a clean and welcoming clinic and better treatment plans, particularly if you want to have a lower hormones plan. I had my initial consultation within a week of calling where I was given a scan and blood tests taken and from that, I was taken through my options and what would be involved in the plan they recommended. At that time, I wasn’t pushed to start any treatment and was given the space to decide what we wanted to do as a couple. The price for treatment is massive, but it’s ultimately an investment in a life and we were given the chance to do the payment plan, so we went for it. I ended up doing the 3 rounds of egg collection. My experience was positive but there times when I had to chase my patient coordinator many times and it resulted in me changing my coordinator to Maria, who was amazing! She was very helpful and helped me through the entire process with all the egg collections and medication queries I had. Also all the staff, doctors and nurses during the egg collection and transfer process were lovely and reassuring during what was a nervous and stressful time. The 3 egg collections were done over six months and I’m happy to say it was all worth it because I ended up having a successful live transfer at the end of it, and a full term pregnancy with the birth of my son in May! I know I am extremely lucky to have had such a quick and amazing outcome, and I do not take that for granted. I do also have to give CREATE a massive thanks for helping us get there! I also am lucky to have 4 embryos frozen for the future should I want to try again for a 2nd child. I would recommend anyone wanting to start a family to visit CREATE and see what your options are. Do your research, know that it’s a process and it’s emotional and extremely hard at times but it could result in the best outcome!

“Mixed Experience with Egg Freezing: Grateful for the Journey, but Faced Multiple Stressful Hiccups”

I underwent 3 rounds of egg freezing via Hertfordshire clinic in 2022/23, collections at St Paul’s. I had a mixed experience. Met some very kind people along the way, but wanted to give some honest feedback for those just starting on their journey (also, do your research). I rushed into egg freezing at age 35, my AFC was 7, AMH similar number, so DOR. I was advised to do 3 rounds of egg freezing with Create, to aim for 18-20 eggs ideally. Only 10 retrieved for me over 3 cycles, which was disappointing as I felt I’d been led to expect higher (although I understand it’s nobodies “fault” how my ovaries behaved) cost was between £15-16k total which i remortgaged to do so significant stressful expense (although v aware I’m in a privileged position to do this). I’m still very grateful I got to try, & this clinic was geographically the only one that worked for me. Over the 3 retrievals however there were lots of things that added stress.. 1) having to ring the 0300 number & sit in a queue and leave a msg for patient coordinator to ring me back, no direct contact 2) being given out of date trigger injection on first cycle & realising when I went to give it at 9pm 3) being pushed to 15 days for egg retrieval on my last collection, 10am booking, by which time half my follicles had ruptured.. very disappointing to have lost potentially half your eggs from premature ovulation when you don’t have many to begin with! 4) a mess up with ordering meds one cycle so they weren’t delivered the day before injections were due, so had to be delivered to my work the next day.. not great for privacy from colleagues! 5)being told by my patient coordinator at the end of my treatment that I was due several hundred pounds in reimbursement, just to email in to get it when I’d finished.. only to get an email a few months later from a new patient coordinator saint that they’d recalculated the maths and my account was actually in the negative. There was no invoice with it so I presumed this meant due to their error that they’d just written it off, but then I got a call 5 months later out the blue making me feel like a criminal saying that I owed them over £600.
I’ve since gone to another clinic with my partner for further fertility treatment and it’s been a completely different experience. To me, I felt that there were some very kind individuals along my journey at Create (mainly the nurses at the clinic – thank you) but overall I felt that it was more about getting my money than caring about my outcome, and I will always wonder if I’d have had a better outcome if I’d gone elsewhere. But I’m delighted to see on the reviews that some people have had great outcomes, and their national statistics are clearly very good, so perhaps it was just the hiccups mentioned above and my non generous ovaries that stopped me wanting to leave a 5 * review 🙂
